Our short course in usability was developed in 2006 by senior members of the ide@s group who, through their experience, realised the enormous benefits of the course to be had by developers/project managers of interactive products and systems.
The course is aimed at anyone involved in the development or project management of interactive software and media. There are benefits to a wide range of individuals and companies in completing this course, whether you are an ‘in house’ IT department developing your own intranet/extranet or third party developers for external clients.
Knowledge gained will enable development teams to produce more usable products. Companies tendering for development work from other companies can strengthen their bids with ‘built in’ accredited usability specialists in their development teams.
Successful completion of the four workshop sessions and work-based assessment leads to an accredited Certificate in Usability. The course is a 'masters' level course which carries 30 credits towards a full masters degree.
This course is unrivalled in cost, flexibility and content.
The course comprises of four workshops that cover four core elements of usability:
- Understanding Users
- Inspection methods
- User testing
- Interaction design
Each workshop demonstrates how each element of the course supports development of usable interactive products, their application, and how they integrate with each other, essential to usability. Each workshop will be delivered in two 'evening sessions' on consecutive Monday and Tuesday evenings, 16:00 – 19:00. We are also happy to discuss 'on-site delivery' to organisations with multiple participants.
Dates for this years course will be available shortly If you are interested in any of the options about the course or would like more details, please email: ide@sunderland.ac.uk
